Snoop Dogg did a dipshit and evil thing by attacking Gail King. He should be called out for it, held to account for it, and dismissed for it. What he did should never be normalized.
Watching Morning Joe get outraged and exercised about it rings pretty fucking hollow to me.
Watching Joe and Mika "tsk, tsk" about it makes me so angry I can't see straight.
By their reaction, you'd think...
- Snoop has spent the last 4 years attacking the free press and journalist.
- Snoop has the power of the state and platform to attack journalism and our freedom.
- Snoop turned a blind eye, or worse, was complicit in the kidnapping and live dismemberment of a respected journalist.
I'm sorry, Snoop Dogg needs to be condemned, but our current media are the last ones on Earth that have a right to do so.
In fact, I'm a little surprised at the outrage. I thought for sure, if the MSM wanted to be "fair" you'd see them treat Snoop Dogg in the same way they treat Donnie Shit for Brains. They could:
- Chuckle amongst themselves as they tell us; "Snoop Dogg is just not your "normal" entertainer.
- Show us an empty podium for 4 consecutive hours with a Breaking News cryon telling us "Snoop Dogg soon to make remarks"
- They could describe Snoop's attack as "not normal", but tell us how much it "resonates with pockets of 'real' Murika"
- They could show us focus group after focus group to let us know they don't like what Snoop said, but man... what a great last album he put out.
Snoop Dogg must be condemned, but I won't accept that condemnation from the very people that have worked tirelessly to normalize this kind of discourse.
You can't be outraged about Snoop Dogg when you've spent the past 4 years normalizing the abnormal.
The people will hold Snoop accountable in the same way that we will hold Donnie Shit for Brains accountable this November.
In the meantime, I suggest that the MSM do some serious soul searching.

I think the audience needs to do some soul searching.

(4,835 posts)a profound comment. The MSM exists in it's soul-less-ness because the audience allows it on so many level. Can you imagine what would happen if 80% of Americans stop watching and stop buying corporate news?

(33,309 posts)Gotta have 2 or 3 interviews a month with "ordinary" folks in diners out in bumfuck boonietown telling us how anxious they are about not enough support for Snoop Dogg.

Bloomberg would do more for our country if he purchased as many media as possible and made them legit.
