Watching "Who Killed Malcolm X?" on Netflix.
Malcolm and Elijah Muhammad's relationship fell apart right after the assassination of JFK.
During the breakup things got pretty acrimonious to the point that Muhammad kicked Malcolm and his family out of the house that the Nation had provided for them. He even took the Malcolm to court for good measure.
Malcolm retaliated by publicly airing Muhammad's dirty laundry, i.e. he had impregnated several of his secretaries and had at least eight children by six of them.
Muhammad's followers pretty much shrugged at the disclosure. One devotee ran to her mother for clarification and assurance, and her mom went on to tell her it didn't matter and as the Honorable Elijah Muhammad is a great man who opened the door to Islam for them and thousands others. With that in mind, "we have to take the good over the bad".
Finally I understand Trumpism.
