Ann Romney urges women: Fight for joy, vote for Mitt (speaking at riding academy in VA)

Couple of things: What does that "joy" comment remind you of? And: A riding academy? Way to reach out to the average woman, annie.

By Alicia M. Cohn - 09/07/12 12:22 PM ET

Ann Romney on Friday discussed her personal fight to "remember the joy in life" and urged voters, especially women, in the battleground state of Virginia to look to her husband, Mitt Romney, to improve lives on an individual level.

"Our message is really for all Americans, and it really is boiling down to this: America, we can do better," she said. She spoke directly to the fact that the GOP presidential candidate is known for his personal financial success.

"But we're not going to apologize for that, recognizing that the individual is what this country is about, not government," she said, confronting the clash in themes between the GOP and Democratic conventions over the last two weeks. "It's that hope and promise we're going to be fighting for."

Ann Romney spoke at a "Women for Mitt" rally held at the Twin Oaks Riding Academy in Leesburg, Va.

"Welcome to horse country," said Susan Allen, the wife of former Virginia Gov. George Allen, while introducing Ann Romney. "Do you know Virginia is for lovers? Virginia is for horse lovers, too.

to belong to a riding club. Or, even if you aren't joyful, you can drown your sorrows in Glenlivet instead of risking getting MD20-20 stains on your jodhpurs.

for rent AND utilities AND put food on your table in the same month.

Poor Ann, betcha it's been quite a while since she had to check the price on that canned tuna she holds so dear.

It is a sotta voce message to Republican women. Phyllis Schlafly has been doing it for decades. It is what the male dominated authoritarian Republican culture is all about. Women are mere surrogates for other subjugated women, nothing more.

"Now you girls get back into the kitchen." That's what she's really saying.

She is such a clueless idiot. Living in her own little fantasy world of dancing ponies and fairy dust that makes Mitt a champion of the "Little People". Nothing could be more false or laughable.

The Romneys try so damn hard to sound like they have real human emotions, but how they say it betrays them. What a stupid ass comment.
