How to brainwash someone - Good information to see how people get stuck.

Pick your target
Offer them something they want
Make them feel special, wanted, loved
Then make that attention conditional, conditional on them doing and thinking what you want
Switch what they want to something grander. (And then later switch it to wanting you)
Criticize who they are in order to start unfreezing their personality
Separate them from the rest of the world and their past so you become their main source of information
Use fear and guilt to get them to think and make decisions differently
Keep them busy physically and mentally so they don't have time to reflect and disrupt normal functions like sleeping and eating.
Make them dependent on you and install phobias of leaving
Use rewards and punishments to freeze new ideas, beliefs and behaviors in place
Wash, rinse, repeat...

While I have listed these things in this order, at times there may be considerable overlap between them. It may be necessary to jump around from one step to another, or to go back and repeat several steps and there may be several items occurring at the same time, and so on.

These phases occur in a cult, in a work situation, in a social situation and in an intimate relationship, although they may seem different in each context. Let's look at each in more detail.

Constant anger and outrage keep cognitive functions at the animalistic level. Plus, those hormones are basically addictive drugs.

Express outrage and tell them that you're the only one who can help them, tell them there's danger all around and you're the only one who can keep them safe.

The only brainwashing technique republicans don't do it protein deprivation....

really bad panic attacks and unwanted thought etc. A panic disorder.

My parents knew nothing and my father didn't believe in schrinks. So I went to the minister. Somehow he got me believing that he was the only one that could save me from the impending loss of my mind that I believed would happen.

And that caused me to make up stuff in my head when he would touch me inappropriately. I literally one time told myself he didn't realize what he was doing because he was a minister, (a man of God) even the guy was married and had 5 kids!

It is amazing how the brain will act to try and keep you from knowing things that you don't want to know.

This was 40 years ago.

How they are the smarter party; and that is documented over and over.

The feel good about yourself thing is something everyone wants.
