If he's withdrawing as a US prosecutor in the Stone case, it means he's pissed off Dennis Donovan Feb 2020 #4
Isn't his role over anyway? lame54 Feb 2020 #6
I'm assuming they would still make oral argument at the sentencing hearing. Tommy_Carcetti Feb 2020 #8
So, now, that will be done by a Barr flunky... lame54 Feb 2020 #11
Yup. nt Tommy_Carcetti Feb 2020 #12

I want to know if they're withdrawing voluntarily or if they're being forced out. Nevilledog Feb 2020 #23
It's unknown if he was forced to resign or left on his own decision. superpatriotman Feb 2020 #24
If voluntary, it's a protest. Forced to resign is just more retaliation. Nevilledog Feb 2020 #25

Zelinsky's resignation was only from his position as special assistant U.S. attorney in the District of Columbia but he still retains his post in the U.S. attorney's office in Maryland.

This is huge because of how DoJ undercut its prosecutors in the Stone case earlier. There is an earthquake about to hit DoJ.

Making things “easy” on drumpf by simply walking away is not helping things. Drumpf has to take no action. So many good people just keep resigning letting drumpf backfill with more corrupt loyalists.

We need to be hearing from these people and frankly they should be forcing drumpf to fire them

She could now decide that he deserves the maximum because the president is trying to affect the sentencing.

What DoJ did by undercutting their own prosecutors in their "reassessment" of the Stone sentencing guidelines sent *deep* shockwaves thru the entire DoJ. Legal types on Twitter are saying to expect more. Barr might've finally crossed the line with this.

Zelinsky was with Barr's regurgitation of "facts" with the first release to the public after the Mueller report was delivered. Sounds like he's finally had it. The good news is, the judge decides the sentencing. They can sentence more or less. They can take the recommendation to heart or totally ignore it.

If he went along with DOJ's new, recommended sentencing, he'd go against everything he argued for to put Stone away, thereby admitting to some weakness in his prosecution. If he maintained his original sentencing recommendation, he'd be fired ASAP and removed from all districts.
