(2,826 posts)Lawyers have little wiggle room in situations like this. Either do what the client says or withdraw (with the exception of the client asking for something illegal which, strictly speaking, this is not).
When Nixon ordered the firing of the special prosecutor, he got resignations until Robert Bork stepped up to do the deed.
To immediately jump to "that just helps Trump" kind of misses the point here.

Nothing about this Administration is normal.
These guys know a lot about the Mueller investigations that were stopped. Wonder if the House investigators would be interested in hiring them.

(43,153 posts)They cannot in good faith go before the judge and say, "Yes, I know we did previously recommend 7-9 years in prison for the Defendant, but now we're totally cool with community service."
No. They made an oath, and they are abiding by it.

(16,254 posts)Wasn't there a female judge who dressed down Stone on his constant disrespect for the court by not following orders? What was it, three or four times he had to be called back for discipline? Maybe she'll remove herself from this case, as well.
The whole bunch lied and violated the courts...Manafort, Stone, Flynn...
Good on the attorneys for serving notice.

(5,268 posts)Doubt she will remove herself after all she has gone through to get him to abide by her orders and presiding over his conviction.
Refusal of the 3 prosecutors to go along with Trump/Barr's orders for downward revision of their recommendation gives her credibility to give Stone significant prison time but as I recall she was the sentencing judge for Manafort and gave him the low end of recommended time.

(51,567 posts)It just gets worse and worse. My anger has never been this bad in my whole life (and I get ANGRY). I was speaking with a Dem surveyor yesterday that I see often outside my local store and we were discussing how much we hate all three evil monsters (Barr, tRump and Moscow Mitch). We hate them so much we often have a hard time even finding the words.
