Susan Collins can't name a single 'lesson' Trump learned from impeachment

By Dan Desai Martin -February 12, 2020 11:08 AM

Since Collins voted to acquit Donald Trump, he has retaliated against witnesses and interfered in a Department of Justice case against his former campaign adviser.

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) said Donald Trump learned his lesson from impeachment. But when confronted on Wednesday morning, Collins couldn't list a single lesson Trump learned.

CNN's Manu Raju asked Collins if there were any lessons Trump learned from impeachment, in light of Trump's recent actions. Collins would not or could not identify any lessons, responding instead with a lengthy defense of her votes to acquit Trump.

"I've made very clear that I don't think anyone should be retaliated against," Collins said. "I voted to acquit the president... because his conduct, while wrong, did not meet the high bar established by the Constitution" for removal.

Raju again asked, "Do you think he learned any lessons?"

Collins again refused to answer the question.

I can understand a newly elected politician playing it safe, but she's not broke.. I'll never understand why most politicians act the way they do. Of course now John Boehner is into "the weed" business.

Unlike Olympia Snow, no one likes or wants Collins. She's exudes an aura of weakness, she lacks the articulation of a corpse, and she's so damn whiny.

No lobbying group will offer her a position, her support of Trump has made sure no moderate groups are going to hire her, and her defense of abortion rights cancel out any jobs from conservative groups. If she loses, she goes back to Maine, where it's very likely the people there don't want her either...once she's out of office her reason for breathing is no more!

So, she decided to stick with Trump in hopes that he would support her, but while he's been free with the accolades for the male Republicans in Congress...he has said almost nothing about the women in the Senate or the House...who supported him.

Hopefully she loses her bid for re-election and is kicked to the curb...and that no other doors open for her...and she can slink back home and spend the remainder of her life being the loser that she truly is...

She's been there a long time, and she doesn't need a new career if she loses re-election. She's of retirement age, and I'm sure she has plenty of money. We know she (and every other Senator) has great health care (unlike other Americans), so why not be truthful towards the end?

I think Mitt Romney voted for impeachment for his own good, or maybe for payback to Trump, thinking he'll be remembered in the history books, and he probably will be, since he was the only one. I think he's an opportunist.

He learned that he can do any damned thing he wants and the gutless, spineless Senate Russiapublicans will just shake their heads! (If that. Don't want to upset the poor dear.)

He learned his lesson all right. He learned Senate Republicans will let him get away with literally anything he wants. Dangerous lesson.

Between their massive media control, business connections, think (?) tanks and hundreds of billionaires, they can make or break any human they wish and won't hesitate to do so.

Their primary purpose is to destroy the very institutions they are supposed to serve.

The Republican Party has lost its right to be an American political party.........
