Adam DiSabato, a former captain of Ohio State Universitys wrestling team, testified on Wednesday that Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) had begged him in 2018 to repudiate allegations that the congressman was aware of the former wrestling team doctors sexual abuse of the student wrestlers.
During a hearing on a bill in Ohios general assembly that would allow Dr. Richard Strauss victims to sue OSU, DiSabato recalled that Jordan, who served as the teams assistant coach from 1987 to 1995, kept calling him in July 2018 after DiSabatos brother, Michael, and several other former wrestlers publicly accused Jordan of ignoring Strauss abuse.
Jim Jordan called me crying, groveling
begging me to go against my brother.
Thats the kind of cover-up thats going on there, DiSabato told Ohio lawmakers, according to Cleveland.com.
Ian Fury, Jordans communications director, told TPM in an emailed statement that the Republican lawmaker never saw or heard of any abuse, and if he had he would have dealt with it.

(4,490 posts)"At no time did I ever say or have any direct knowledge that Jim Jordan knew of Dr. Richard Strauss inappropriate behavior," Coleman said in the release. "I have nothing but respect for Jim Jordan as I have known him for more than 30 years and know him to be of impeccable character."
Coleman could not be reached to corroborate the comment put forward by the conservative group. But it stands in contrast to what he told The Wall Street Journal on July 5 two days after NBC News first reported allegations from three other wrestlers that Jordan must have known about the alleged abuse by Dr. Richard Strauss. One of the wrestlers even said that he talked to Jordan about the doctor's behavior.
DiSabato, in a text message to NBC News, said Coleman was pressured to issue the new statement after Jordan, his brother, high school wrestling coach Jeff Jordan, and former Ohio State team coach Russ Hellickson all called Colemans parents.
DiSabatos account of the pressure placed on Coleman was corroborated by another former wrestler, who has spoken to NBC News before and asked not to be identified.
It's so frustrating to see this story not get more attention. Should be a national scandal with serious investigative reporting from all the news organizations.

(14,966 posts)a long time ago back in the time period where this abuse was happening, IT WAS JUST 1 1/2 YEARS AGO.
IT WAS WHILE JORDAN WAS IN CONGRESS.
IT WAS WHILE JORDAN WAS ON POWERFUL CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES.
