I think its time for our surviving American presidents and presidential candidates to speak up.

Carter, Clinton, Bush, Obama... we are losing our democracy. Your voices still carry a lot of weight, and can help the people understand what a grave crisis we are in.

Al Gore, John Kerry, Hillary Clinton... the country needs to hear from you too.

Unfortunately if any of these become high profile speakers right now it would be portrayed as heavy hitters defending a weak group of current candidates.

Sitting back and giving the courtesy of silence, to the current office holder, is EXACTLY what is needed.

NOTHING is more important than courtesy, and the optics of not interfering. At least we will be COURTEOUS FASCISTS.

And any Dem speaking out would of course be ignored

Funny how they never bring up W now. He went along with the Democrats too often! He exploded the debt! Even though that wasnt a problem while he was doing it. Trump has the impact of a mob boss, which is what he LIKES. Making people turn against one another in order to curry favor from HIM

when we aren't in power, not having a leader is not that big a deal. Keep the tradition, and stay silent. But we are genuinely on the precipice here. We need the Clinton's and Obama's and Jimmy to speak out and to offer our party wisdom and ideas for how to rid ourselves of this monster.

their silence is conspicuous. Protocol be damned, republicans are not observing the law, protocol or not firing people for telling the truth about this POTUS and his administration. This is our democratic experiment in jeopardy of fast becoming fascist. and nothing but crickets. Sad to me, but what do I know. Impeachment didn't work, that's all I know. And Trump our first Al Capone POTUS gives less than a damn about the stain historical or otherwise on his record. He is all about enriching his buddies, his family cons and himself.

Seeing the sentiment here means others are thinking the same thing. That's good. It's the rethuglican voices we really need, that could make a difference..

They’re not ready to dump him yet... more perks to collect.

But the day will come when they won’t need him anymore, and then he’ll be flushed out to sea, by every single one of them.

Do you really think Rump is running this circus? Or Putin?
Or that Mitch or Lindsey or the rest of the repub Congress are shaking in their boots fearing being bullied? Not on your life. They know exactly what they are doing and why.

which has become an authoritarian cult. Anything said by former Presidents or Vice Presidents would be meaningless to drumpf's cult members. It was disgusting to hear the NASCAR fox announcers, Jeff Gordon in particular, gush and have multiple orgasms over drumpf taking laps at the Daytona 500 Race Track yesterday in the Beast Limo. drumpf's cult followers have been totally brainwashed and there is no way to make THAT different. America is in serious danger and the only thing that will save her is to pick the absolute best candidate to appeal to the greatest number of all voters. BS candidates should be written off immediately, free will never be! Voters will run away from any socialist like the plague. Extreme idealism will lead to failure of the objective to rid ourselves of drumpf. Desperate times require desperate measures to save our nation! THINK!

named Presidents Obama and W. Bush, but his gist was the same as what you are saying. He also threw in Chief Justice Roberts (this was months before the Impeachment trial sham). He thought a group like this could preserve American dignity, serve as a reality check and prevent things from spinning hopelessly out of control.
