It's feeling more and more like I've been right.
Trump will do absolutely every corrupt and illegal thing his minions can conceive now to prevent a fair and honest election.
With his complete take over of the Justice department and full support of the Republican Senate he won't have to worry about anyone using the law to stop him.
He also has installed sycophantic toadies in all levels of government and every one of them are under his direct totalitarian control.
Yes the states are still somewhat independent but Federal law supersedes State law, (See the Supremacy Clause), which gives Trump great leverage to corrupt the system, even within states, in his own favor.
I hope there will be a flash point soon that creates a massive, historic backlash amongst the population because if we simply go along peacefully waiting for a civil and legal election to restore justice I am certain we will be sorely, and horrifyingly disappointed.

If Dems step out of line, even a little bit, the justice department will instantly jump on them with force and intensity but will totally ignore and even participate in criminal activities by Trump and his cronies.
The US is in a bad place.

(19,558 posts)On a personal level, I'm choosing to keep on fighting and using my voice.
You're, obviously, correct about the current DOJ. Our leaders have to be extremely pure and careful, while the GOP can be as corrupt as they like on a national level, without fear of retribution.
What worries me is how many on the other side of the aisle are perfectly fine with this now. Has our level of polarization ever been this high before?

(10,199 posts)I've been a political wonk and an avowed Democrat since childhood. In 1968, my 15th birthday was on Election Day, and I threw a Pat Paulsen Victory Party. (I had to distract myself from the *real* election.)
