Giffords, the pro-gun control group, announced it was backing nine freshman Democrats, all with military or national security backgrounds: Reps. Gil Cisneros (CA-39), Jason Crow (CA-06), Elissa Slotkin (MI-08), Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11), Rose (NY-11), Chrissy Houlahan (PA-06), Conor Lamb (PA-17), Elaine Luria (VA-02) and Abigail Spanberger (VA-07). “Once elected, these champions fearlessly pushed forward, making the fight for gun violence prevention a signature issue for the Congressional majority,” former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.), the group’s founder and namesake, said in a statement.
