I don't believe for a minute this Barr v Trump act.

Maybe I am wrong but to me it is all kabuki theater. This is all one big act.

Barr, "I can't do my job with the President's interference."

Please, Bill your job is to run interference for President Trump.

They're just "play fighting," just like Trump does with Putin when he takes some feeble action against Russia, or tries to talk tough about Putin. I'm sure they have a tacit agreement that Trump can occasionally take a swipe at Putin to fool Trump's followers into believing Trump is a strong leader who is tough on Russia.

I wouldn't be surprised if they had some code hand gesture that Trump uses to signal Putin, "Just foolin'! Don't get mad!" whenever he appears to lay down the law on Russia.

https://www.purevolume.com/entertainment/whats-real-and-whats-fake-in-american-pickers/?safari=1&Exc_D_LessThanPoint002_p1=1

Mike and Frank are notorious negotiators on the show. It’s always depicted that, when they meet the people who own the items they want, they always negotiate a fair price down from a set value that the person has in mind. That’s not always what’s happening when the cameras aren’t rolling, however…

It turns out that it’s a common practice for the crew to set a price along with the guests before Mike or Frank show up. Once they do, the hosts of the program try to negotiate to that set price — once the filming has started, that is. In other words, there’s not much of a real negotiation happening at all, at least as far as the hosts are concerned.

The staging seems obvious, but is there any precedent for Donald Trump play acting like that?

I can think of some other possibilities -
It's a momentary slip up by Barr. Let's see if he says something like that again
Mr Trump is not really aware of what happened yet
Barr is really in charge, and is keeping Mr Trump on ice

the latter seems as implausible as Donald Trump play acting, but not any less implausible given Mr Trump's decline.

Basically, Barr is Twitter-grumbling because he's trying to pretend that tRump is be being *unhelpful* by megaphoning what Barr's up to and Barr just wants to maintain some level of plausible deniability about it. He's pretending that he's not doing exactly what tRump wants, he just doesn't want tRump to openly expose him. After all, he doesn't need tRump to tell him what to do. He knows what tRump wants. He's been at this back when he cut his teeth as the AG back during Iran Contra when the Reagan-BushI folks needed a kangaroo hearing, and he proved himself a willing lackey in facilitating that coverup more than thirty years ago! He's got good practice. He's been successful at it and he sure doesn't need someone with the intellect of a brain-addled gnat telling him how to do his job on Twitter, FFS. Barr's just sayin' to tRump's Twitter handler to cool it, "Just don't embarrass me publicly for being such a willing and able law-breaker. I mean, Boss, I do need to be able to dine at Sans Souci without having the waitstaff dump platters on my head and have my prime fillet spat on by the food handlers."

Their conspiracy to lessen the charges was exposed by Trump's stupid disclosures. So they had to wipe out the fact that Barr was only doing his bootlicking duty at Trump's demands and make it appear that he was responsibly acting in his capacity as Attorney General and was not the president's bought and paid for flunky. Barr is a fascist henchman with no alliance to the nation and the constitution.

59. Actually, they're trying for bunraku theater, in which the audience agrees not to see the puppeteers
Tue Feb 18, 2020, 02:28 AM
Feb 2020
All but the most minor characters require three puppeteers, who perform in full view of the audience, generally wearing black robes. In most traditions, all puppeteers also wear black hoods over their heads, but a few others, including the National Bunraku Theater, leave the main puppeteer unhooded, a style of performance known as dezukai. The shape of the puppeteers' hoods also varies, depending on the school to which the puppeteer belongs.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bunraku

Of course, the puppeteers are fully visible, but the audience accepts the idea that they are not supposed to be there, and so does not notice whatever manipulations they must go through to get the puppets to act, even startling in surprising at the sudden actions of the puppets.

45's WH is like a bunraku performance in which a bloated orange puppeteer, hood and robe cast aside and red tie hanging to his knees, keeps shouting "YOU CAN'T SEE US!! YOU CAN'T SEE US!!!!" while making weird hand gestures.

45 is trying to play a part which requires subtlety, a concept totally beyond his understanding, and of course failing bigly.
