create your own database to give them and say, post this ad on everyone's page in the dbase?
If we could get a fund of donations, and we knew who to target, we could hire a team to monitor FB. The second they saw a smear ad, they could create a quick anti-smear ad and release it out to the same people?
Just blaming McConnell for letting election protection bill die is not enough. Action is needed.
I saw Beto climbing in TX only to be hit with the smear barrage and he plateaued. We can complain all day, but where's a doable action plan ? Guess it's gotta come from the private sector.

Not everybody shares everything, mind you (like me).
Its entirely up to the purchaser or booster of an ad or post. Facebook does nothing but take the money, unless your ad finds an audience and receives likes and shares, then it may show up in more news feeds.
If you really want to promote a post, share it, comment on it, and like it with as many people as possible.
That's my understanding.

(31,177 posts)Well (as far as I know), it all comes down to the algorithm again. The more people who click, like, share and comment on a FB post, the more it will be seen. Even an ad. I'm hardly an expert, but this is what I experience with my own little client on Facebook. You can buy all the ads you want, but if people aren't engaging with them, they die a quick death.
I wonder if Democrats would be smarter targeting the 80,000 or voters that Hilary didn't get in 2016 -- the so-called "protest" voters in Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania that voted third party or didn't vote at all? For good measure I might add Ohio and Florida to the mix too. It didn't take much for Trump to win the election. Dems need the people who had checked-out.
IMHO it would be smart to identify who these people are on social media and have a lot of volunteers temporarily mimic their behavior in these states. And then someone would need to fashion posts to counter GOP falsehoods that these volunteers could like and share. It would take boots on the ground, I think.
As for Texas, I hear there's been a lot of migration recently from California. Maybe the state is turning more blue? A lot can change in four years.

(42,770 posts)Figuring out how to win in Nov might be less depressing. All I know is complaining about trump and all the "can't believe he did this" threads here and on Twitter are getting us nowhere. Wish we had a leader.
