In New Jersey, we dont sit down and shut up. So wed like to extend an invitation to anyone whos worked closely with Donald Trump to come here, like John Kelly did, and tell the truth about this president.
Anti-Trumpers at a Drew University forum in Morristown, and all over Twitter, took the opportunity to condemn his longest-serving chief of staff for all the horrible policies that Kelly didnt denounce while at the White House, like the separation of families at the border and
the Muslim ban.

You see why many former Trump aides might opt to stay silent, as Peter Nicholas at the Atlantic points out. Do they deserve a medal for telling it like it is, well after theyve left the Trump White House? Will it wipe that stubborn orange stain off their reputations?
Not a chance. But they owe it to the country, just the same. It is their civic duty to be clinically honest, to join the chorus that alerts us to how reckless and dangerous this president can be, in the words of Richard Painter, the chief White House ethics lawyer in the Bush administration.
It gives us windows into the insanity behind the scenes, as Trump only grows bolder in trampling our democratic norms. Thats still important, in the lead-up to the 2020 election. Especially if Republicans in office arent going to make a peep.

The same goes for James Mattis, who resigned over Trumps pullback of our troops in Syria betraying our Kurdish allies and Rex Tillerson, who privately called Trump a moron.
Care to elaborate? Better late than never.
