General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsThe two short clips that EVERY station should be playing over and over again:
I tried to find just the pertinent seconds of each, but couldn't find an easy youtube version to paste, but this is an ask for a DUer who has that ability.
Clip One: Kamala Harris asking Bill Barr if anyone suggested or asked that he investigate someone. And Barr's non-answer
Kamala Harris asked Barr if Trump ever 'suggested' he investigate someone. Barr didn't answer.

Clip Two:
Michael Cohen's description of Trump's code talk. He doesn't give orders. He talks in a code where you understand what he wants.
He doesnt give you questions, he doesnt give you orders, he speaks in a code. And I understand the code, because Ive been around him for a decade, testified Cohen, Trumps former longtime personal attorney.
For example, Cohen said Trump would frequently remark that he had no business ties in Russia. Cohen said he understood Trump to mean that he should deny any such connections."

"Will no one rid me of this turbulent priest?" (sometimes expressed as "troublesome" or "meddlesome priest" ) is a question attributed to Henry II of England, which led to the death of Thomas Becket, the Archbishop of Canterbury, in 1170. While it was not expressed as an order, it caused four knights to travel from Normandy to Canterbury, where they killed Becket.
The phrase is now used to express the idea that a ruler's wish can be interpreted as a command by his or her subordinates.
He's using a historical reference to show how the "plausible deniability" concept has been used throughout history to get evil things done by not directly requesting them.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
