do you know? I looked at the site and did not see his name. His grandfather, the original Joie with the Thrill show was my Great Uncle. I have lost track of all that side. If you do not know don't bother I can look around myself later but in case you do know, you seemed interested in the race, I thought I would ask.

I would sell papers at the track on qualifying days and race day back in the early sixties.

I loved it when I was a kid, but it's a whole new world today

I really have lost track with racing (pun intended). I peak at it only occasionally.

I've heard the Joie Chitwood name over the years but it was mostly connected with stock car racing which grew into nascar.

The old 1st Joie was the Thrill Show. I met him only once as he was long gone from Kansas. I saw him in a couple of movies, he actually had some lines with Clark Gable and Barbara Stanwyck, grew up with stories and had a couple of Thrill Show cars (not exactly my cup of tea) as a kid. The rest of his family, sisters and brother were all here and I knew them. They were very proud of him.

Thanks for answering. I really appreciate it.

For those who didn't watch Saturday morning cartoons in the 1960's, that's "Wacky Races."

This race might be exciting if they pushed automotive technology by using electric engines with no recharging or battery swapping allowed.

Or maybe we could replace human drivers with artificial intelligence in a class of cars limited only by size and weight. Imagine exotic fuels and as much horsepower as you could cram into a box. This might be a dangerous for spectators however.
