https://www.nytimes.com/2020/02/14/us/coronavirus-hawaii-japan.htmlThe husband and wife, both in their 60s, were confirmed to have the virus after returning home to Japan. Officials in Hawaii were racing to find people they may have met in the state.
A married couple tested positive for the coronavirus in Japan this week after returning from a 10-day vacation in Hawaii, during which the man began showing symptoms, health officials said.
The husband and wife, who are both in their 60s, visited two Hawaiian islands in late January and early February, and the man grew ill while the couple was staying in a time-share in Honolulu, the authorities said on Saturday.
Word of the couples positive tests raised concerns among health officials in Hawaii, who said they were working to track down people the couple had met during their time there.

(47,479 posts)but I do wonder whether I should go to a clinic to be tested. Have never been to China, these days do not leave the house much, except for groceries, doctor appointments and the gym. But at our age - over 70 - with an old immune system..
Spouse claims that if it is in our neighborhood - Twin Cities - by now we would have heard about it..

I recently read (here on DU) that the virus can live on surfaces for 9 days and I doubt if proper scrub-down precautions were taken between occupants.
Also - IIRC there's a 2 week incubation period, so maybe they could have caught it from someone on the flight to Hawaii.
Not to worry though... the warmer weather in April will kill it off.
