And that right-wing terrorism is not going away regardless of whether Trump is re-elected or not.
Remember Charlottesville. Remember Christchurch. Remember El Paso. Remember Squirrel Hill. And so on...
Trump already has gazillions of rotten, evil, disgraceful, damaging-beyond-repair aspects of his legacy - had them before he was even the Republican nominee, even before he ran (Birtherism, anyone?) - but encouraging white supremacist violence and hate crimes of all sorts has got to rank as one one of the worst, even by his lowlife standards.
Will we ever recover?

(1,832 posts)I never understood why anybody could like an obvious bully as Donald Trump, but I am also quite fond of truthful reporting. And I get so tired of the talking point about Trump praising white supremacists with the comment about "very fine people on both sides". Because his next sentence was: "The neo-Nazis and the white nationalists ... should be condemned totally."
And yes, it can be read in many ways, but this will only resonate positively among them of us who are already convinced. This will be seen as a false criticism which is easily debunked, and will only show his voters that all resistance are lies. Trump has both before and after this given power to white supremacists in so many other ways, so please chose a better line!
