(3,557 posts)I grew up in a neighborhood of large, old houses mostly built in the late 1800's. The family down the block was updating their kitchen when they found that the plaster was covering a log wall. Eventually they determined that all four walls of a cabin from the early 1800's were still there, previous owners had just built around and above it.
I haven't been back there in many years but at that time the house was still standing.

(22,958 posts)antiques on 1st floor, then i did the basement. all log cabin 1/2 way up except where 20's buffets were(multiple) and many stained glass piano windows from the 20's above and tons of antiques. the owner + his father deconstructed houses and saved it all. TIME TRAVEL. my uncle did the sale, but did not do the basement. oh. indoor swimming pool too. way cool.
