Barr Just Cost the Justice Department Its Prized Public-Corruption Fighter

The impact of Attorney General William Barr’s intervention in the Roger Stone sentencing won’t just be felt in the cases concerning President Donald Trump’s allies, current and former Justice Department officials warn. It’s cost the Justice Department one of its top public-corruption prosecutors at a time when public corruption is looking like a growth industry.

That attorney is Jonathan Kravis. Kravis is the deputy chief of the fraud and public corruption section of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, putting corruption within the federal government under his purview.

Or he was until Tuesday, when Kravis resigned. The last straw for Kravis, who was part of Robert Mueller’s team that convicted Roger Stone of charges including lying to Congress, was the Justice Department overruling him on the recommended length of Stone’s prison sentence. Unlike his three outraged fellow prosecutors, Kravis didn’t just quit the Stone case, he quit the Justice Department.

“It’s troubling and heartbreaking to see someone as talented and dedicated as Jonathan was known to be leaving under these circumstances,” said a federal prosecutor who requested anonymity during a precarious moment for the Justice Department. “His loss is all the greater given his focus on prosecuting fraud and corruption, at a time when both crimes appear to be on the march.”

The Laurence O’Donnell site that Barr was known as,” Cover up General,” in the Iran/ Contra era.

BTW, that list is up to 2 thousand and Bush former Administration joined in. Time action to disbar or impeach now.

It would make corruption the issue, and GOP52 might like to clean that up for November.

It would be serving the president! to clean out the corruption, so they can't say it's strictly political.

American voters are eager for some red corruption meat.

veneering Republican traitor-ism against the Constitution.

Seems like Barr is between a rock and a hard place. Give up Trump, rehab some honor, and we find out what kompromat they had on you. Or remain a loyal soldier and delay the inevitable.

Like the purge of Ohr, Stzrok, and others from the IC. Our Russia specialists. And now a corruption specialist gone.

WHEN we win in November, I hope we will be able to bring some of these folks back into the fold.

.... in the US Government. Come trDump's second term they can pilfer, plunder, and profit off the US Treasury to their hearts content.

That is what they are setting up for themselves. No oversight, no honesty, open the floodgate of corruption wide so they can rob and steal from the country blind.

A Fascist Theocratic Hyper- Capitalist Oligarchy in the place where our Democracy once stood.

THAT is exactly what they want, THAT is exactly what Steve Bannon was talking about when he said the government had to be dismantled.

What is Barr going to do now? He will fill that post with someone as corrupt as he is, that is what they want, to be able to do what they want without the hassles of principled people around.

The problem with all these people who have resigned is that they go back to the private practices and remain quiet, it would help if when they resign the spill the beans, but resigning and not doing anything is exactly what these corrupt creatures want.

If Kravis had stayed in DOJ, he would have been a fairly powerless attorney that Barr and his henchmen could overrule any time. If he had complained and tried to do what was right, they would have loaded up on him as a miscreant and eventually fired him. Now he can go public with a clean image and publicize why he thinks the decision by Barr was corrupt.

But, unfortunately, so would we.

I would stop receiving my Social Security checks and would have to be "living on live and laughter" which is not very sustaining. I couldn't even order supplies as there would be no USPS to deliver it (where I am, USPS is now delivering for UPS and FedEx - not every package, but many of them.)

And that's not all, and it's just me. Almost everyone depends on the Government for something.
