https://www.usa.gov/confirm-voter-registrationWith upcoming elections, it's always a good idea to keep up on your status, especially in swing states and states with agressive suppression efforts. Do it now and try to avoid problems when you go to the polls.

(15,536 posts)I have voted absentee since I became a senior citizen. Our little township had a special election for a millage last fall, and even though I requested an absentee ballot they claimed they never got my request.
Then when I called the clerk said, "I'm going to put you on the permanent absentee voter list". With our primary coming up on March 10th I decided to call their office to see when I would be getting my ballot only to be told I wasn't on the permanent list even though the clerk said she would put me on it.
I'm not insinuating that there was anything nefarious going on, but you can't trust that your clerks are competent and/or conscientious which is why I urge everyone to make sure you are registered and eligible. It's also why I'm trying to tell everyone I know about the new Michigan law where anyone can vote absentee without any excuse. Just send your clerk a permanent absentee request form.

And thanks for the kick. I wish they would pin a post like this at the top of the board so everybody gets a reminder every time they log in. Can't remind people too many times in this day and age.
