When GHW Bush pardoned the Iran-Contra villains...

...it was on the advice of....

....wait for it...

William Barr.

And it was a successful effort to deflect attention from his own involvement in the Iran-Contra skull dugging.

Deja vu...

Of course, GHW was a ONE TERM officeholder there... Someone oughta remind [Redacted] of that.

nauseatedly,
Bright

He's the king of the cover up. Tossed a few sacrificial lambs out and saved everybody at the top.

The longer we let them get away with things, the bigger their crimes become because they come to understand that there are no consequences.

Bush issued his pardons in the dead of night on Christmas Eve 1992, after he'd already lost the presidency to Bill Clinton. His pardons had the salutary (and totally coincidental, I'm sure) effect of decapitating the Iran/contra investigation just before Caspar Weinberger and the rest were to go on trial. In Lawrence Walsh's final report, he detailed the evidence he would have presented during the trial, which would have put the lie to Bush's claim that he was "out of the loop" on the whole affair.

Some of these talking heads on t.v., in the beginning, acted like he was a by the book guy. He is nothing but the official presidential ass kissing kingmaker..
