This morning on his show, Joe Scarborough stated right out that Trump would arrest and jail journalists he does not like if he could get away with it.

Trump is emboldened and he does not like criticism of any kind.

It's not like he paid any penalty for Khasshoggi's dismemberment or Pompeo's kicking NPR reporters off his plane or continually denouncing the press as the enemy of the people. I don't know if the media think Trump's just kidding around or if they think "He wouldn't dare." They have been unprepared to deal with Trump's bluster and rudeness to individual reporters like Jim Acosta. What are the media prepared to do if a prominent journalist is arrested on some flimsy pretext? Will they launch a coordinated effort to oppose this attack on the free press, or will they think, "Oh good, I move up one more notch."
