I say Stone does not even spend one night in jail.

(6,280 posts)This could be a tipping point. Trump is in an overly defiant mood lately. He is close to being out of control. It's going to be a long 11 months...

(10,782 posts)A pardon essentially means the trial never happened and the charges were never made as though they have magically disappeared.

(10,782 posts)A pardon means, imo, that an offense is void ab initio, as though it never happened. There is no requirement that a person pardoned do anything to accept it or admit anything. Once pardoned, the offense is gone, poof.

(10,782 posts)I thought the judge had already ruled on it. But I still maintain Trump will not let Stone go to jail even for 15 minutes

(14,886 posts)execute the sentence immediately. She will in all probability suspend execution pending the inevitable appeal, which in practical terms means Stone will sleep in his own bed tonight (and every night thereaftre until Dumpy pardons him). Net resultL Stone does zero days in jail.

Trump feels strong pressure to win reelection to run out the clock on his various crimes. So, I think that Stone will be required to "suck it up" and wear a number until the day after the election.
