Either a new trial will be granted or the doj won’t argue effectively on appeal. If barr gets his way a new trial will have an unmotivated prosecutor.

I don’t think it’ll even take a pardon

I would be very happy to be wrong.

I think few knowledgeable observers, including those unfriendly to Stone, expected him to get that much. I think it was a case of starting with a high bid.
