If he'd been caught with an ounce of coke he'd be sentenced to 10 years.
Seems to me that America may be FUBAR.

(525 posts)Methinks the judge also wanted to make it more difficult for Trump to pardon Stone or commute his sentence. The longer the sentence, the easier it is for Trump to say it is unfair.

And to bolster the idea that MAYbe he will not ... Manafort is in jail for 7 years.
Granted, he's not as close to Paul as he is to Roger, but there at least is some precedent for his holding back on pardons for his cronies.
I think he's the kinda dude who might just think to himself "welp, he's obviously not as SMART as ME, cause I always beat the rap ... maybe next time he'll be more successful ..... like me ..... at covering his own ass!'

(33,643 posts)and perhaps the only one who can.
Also, Manafort was trying to get out of debt by latching onto the Trump campaign, and Trumpie hates that kind of stuff. Only HE and his family are to benefit from his 'greatness'. Manafort's involvement in the campaign also brought a lot of the original heat that started the investigation.
However, NOT in Stones favor ... getting caught for talking with Guccifer 2.0. Trump will think Roger wasn't careful enough/brought this on himself.
Hard to know for sure how he'll assess it all in his reptile brain ... but I think a pardon is slightly more likely than not.

Three measly years for a lifetime of gaming the system.
