Tonight the Head of the Dept of National Security was fired by the Trump Administration because today, he reported to congress that there was overwhelming evidence that Russia will once again try their best to influence the upcoming 2020 Election.. In other words Russia will definitely once again wholeheartedly support Trump for Prez. . This is breaking and it is really disturbing and so fucked up on so many levels......God... Give our Country Strength...I beg of you..
Lawrence will probably have more on this breaking story...

NSC aide who worked to discredit Russia probe moves to senior ODNI post
Kash Patel, a former acolyte of Rep. Devin Nunes, is now a top adviser in the Office of National Intelligence.
Kash Patel, a former top National Security Council official who also played a key role as a Hill staffer in helping Republicans discredit the Russia probe, is now a senior adviser for new acting Director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell, according to four people familiar with the matter.
Its not clear what exact role Patel is playing in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, which oversees the U.S. intelligence community. He started at ODNI on Thursday, according to an administration official.

Of course, decades before that show, George Orwell gave us ANIMAL FARM and 1984..........

(12,712 posts)1984 is a warning to those who understand it and a playbook for those who want to usher in what we are seeing.
Funny how we have a combination of Orwell and Huxley's Brave New World. It's a hybrid and both Orwell and Huxley were prescient in different ways. Of course, Orwell was drawing from events in his own time and actually documenting in a fictionalized account. He saw the pattern and clearly outlined it and I think he knew it could repeat again and again without knowledge and vigilance by the people.
I think we are collectively missing the crucial import of that message right now. Perhaps the people in history who have been through the horrors of it did the same thing.

Russia Backs Trump's Re-election, and He Fears Democrats Will Exploit Its Support
Source: NYT
WASHINGTON -- Intelligence officials warned House lawmakers last week that Russia was interfering in the 2020 campaign to try to get President Trump re-elected, five people familiar with the matter said, in a disclosure that angered Mr. Trump, who complained that Democrats would use it against him.
The day after the Feb. 13 briefing to lawmakers, Mr. Trump berated Joseph Maguire, the outgoing acting director of national intelligence, for allowing it to take place, people familiar with the exchange said. Mr. Trump cited the presence in the briefing of Representative Adam B. Schiff, the California Democrat who led the impeachment proceedings against him, as a particular irritant.
During the briefing to the House Intelligence Committee, Mr. Trump's allies challenged the conclusions, arguing that Mr. Trump has been tough on Russia and strengthened European security. Some intelligence officials viewed the briefing as a tactical error, saying that had the official who delivered the conclusion spoken less pointedly or left it out, they would have avoided angering the Republicans.

(2,275 posts)Bernie is polling double digits against Trump. So get behind Sanders if you're actually concerned about beating Trump. Sanders speaks to working Americans. He even has peeled away some Trump supporters. Sanders has recently received the most in donations from members of the armed services.
Or you could back a loser like Bloomberg.
tinrobot
(10,895 posts)The Russians supported Bernie in 2016. That's well known. Even Bernie acknowledges it.
Maybe you can provide an explanation about why that happened.
DemocracyMouse
(2,275 posts)According to Vermont Public Radio "Other Facebook sites and Twitter accounts imitated Black Lives Matter or Muslim advocacy groups. And some were aimed at getting people not to vote."
It was a total shit storm and singling out one political candidate isn't much help. Sanders didn't ask for the Facebook nonsense, unlike Trump who did it loudly ("Russia if you're listening..." , and with a personal stake a mile wide (real estate deals with Moscow). Where was Mark Zuckerberg when all that divide-and-rule trolling was happening? Why did Obama, who was one of our best presidents, let Mitch McConnell spook him out of addressing Russian interference BEFORE the election?
All things considered, Sanders will be a great president and I have no doubt he will shut down all things Russia, all things Trump and all things Citizen United and the fat cats all all over the planet who are the real menace to society.

(11,296 posts)It was a disinformation campaign designed to weaken the (supposed) winner of the 2016 election .. the U.S. as a whole .. and the democratic process. (as has been explained time and again by foreign policy and intelligence sources) Ergo .. support for anybody that is not HRC .. plus a large push for any topic that could be construed as divisive. (to further polarize the electorate) There it is in a nutshell!
And the fact that here you are 4 years later implying an insidious connection between Sanders and Putin ...
means that it's still working!
So, thanks!

And will act as a spoiler, drawing independent and moderate votes away from a left leaning candidate, splitting up the Dems just like in 2016 with Hillary losing b/c of all the protest voters going for Jill Stein, throwing the election to Drumpf.

(23,091 posts)He didn't say how they were influencing the primary and that is extremely important information. OK, they were probably working hand in glove with RNC to disrupt Iowa, but what are they doing now? Paying repugs to register as Dems to vote for the person most likely to lose to drumpf, then re-register and vote for drumpf? Are they fucking with the results? How are they attempting to ruin the Democratic primary - this is critical information and we need it. So drumpf fires the person that let out the truth, because he knows this could poissbly be used to stop Russia and he will not stand for that. He knows without Russia he loses and goes to jail and loses everything he's spent 70 years stealing.
So fucking frustrated right now!

(43,128 posts)We don't need divisions, we need a strong mainstream message, we need a New Deal type coalition that embraces all parts of the political spectrum. My concern is our candidates are fighting one another. Joe hasn't room to tell his platform. Liz beats up on Mike. Amy scraps with Pete. Bernie rants against corporation and looks like he's in pain doing it. There's not a lot of substance there. Message. Platform. Themes. Consensus building. The media is more interested in ratings and controversy, and how many journalists they can cram onto the screen to deflect cost and increase cost/revenue sharing. Substance. Dialogue. Sit downs. They be better off to give them all 15 minutes three nights a week, twice a month.
