4. Me neither

I don't understand how things are for the most part going on "as normal."

Every morning I look at the New York Times and I keep expecting to see something dramatic, like an all-blacked-out front page or a warning telling us our nation is in peril.

For the most part I've been holding it together, even getting excited about November, but the past few days my anxiety and insomnia are at a level I've never experienced before.

8. Sometimes I wish there was a forum to discuss things

like this, since many DUers understandably don't like to see expressions of despair or anxiety on the general forums. We could share what we're experiencing and some strategies for coping, and see what others are doing/trying.

Sometimes I wonder if many people are experiencing this but concealing it because they don't want to worry others or show their friends/family/others how freaked out they are becoming. (Or give MAGAts the satisfaction of knowing that Trump's Project Fear is having an effect.)

9. It is as though we are living

in a cartoon. Fake, orange, incompetant president, surrounded by ill-equiped people trying to handle him. The gop really screwed up this time, and it seems as though they have no idea how to correct this mess. I can not think of a single gop member who seems to actually be working to run this country. They are in lock step with the orange disaster in the WH, who thinks he is a king. The entire world (apart from Putin) are shocked at what this country has become in a short 3 years. All semblance of normalcy is being destroyed. tRump and his family are running things, with Kushner in charge of almost everything. He is not qualified to obtain a Security clearance legally, yet here he is, running the show. God help us.

11. Coping I'm reading

lots of books about world war II to remind of what a united country against fascism looks like, how true patriots of both parties behave, and how the fascists respond. Also lots of videos and movies about the same time period. Know your enemy, know their modus operandi, because the enemies of democracy are eerily similar across the generations, and knowledge might help in discussions or in shaping your life's path.

12. It is truly a nightmare.

Anxiety and insomnia plague me everyday. I am sick when I think about what we are leaving behind for our children and grandchildren. It boggles my mind how greedy and hateful that vile bastard and his cronies are. I have jettisoned anyone that I know who supports him out of my life. There has not been one single minute of peace since MF45 is squatting in the White House. My fear is that we will never recover from this.

And, for me, it's happening during my "golden years", in retirement. Not even a job to keep my mind off of this daily chaos. I still think he will destroy our safety net before he leaves. I wish I had a voodoo doll. When Shrub was in office, my sis sent me one that she saw in a store, but I've looked and cannot find anything similar to it for the orange hosebeast.
