A man was shot and killed early Thursday by the gun he was playing with while waiting for a haircut at his own home.......snip.........
According to the Hernando County Sheriff Office, two men went to a convenience store then returned to the home. One prepared to cut the other's hair. The man who was going to have his hair cut sat down on a bucket outside his bedroom. As he waited for the haircut, he started "playing with his firearm, as he always does". the other man told deputies. The gun then discharged, fatally wounding the man holding it.........snip..........further investigation revealed "the possibility, if not the likelihood" the dead man was under the influence of alcohol, or drugs, or both while using the firearm deputies said.
Names have not been released as yet.
Geez, didn't the gun realize they were only "playing"?

(46,700 posts)I imagine it won't take because the gun would be smart enough to turn itself off when it's held by particularly stupid people.

(6,212 posts)I wish all cars could be fitted with that device. Drunk driving is so dangerous and deadly.

There's no need for drunk driving. Any vehicular homicide where alcohol is involved is premeditated murder. Here in WI, the binge-drinking capital, the headlines are filled all week long and not just on Saturday and Sunday with these fatal crashes. These include snowmobiles now and boats in a few months.
