THIS is an example of how a member of Congress deals with his constituents

From Congressman John Larson:

Dear Friends –

On Monday, February 24th, I will be hosting a discussion on the future of Social Security. Social Security isn’t an entitlement, it’s an earned benefit that you’ve paid for in each and every paycheck! It is the working American’s retirement guarantee, providing economic security for millions of Americans including seniors, people with disabilities, and children and spouses who have lost a provider. We need to enhance the program’s benefits so that no one who has worked their whole life retires into poverty.

Please join me at the Elmwood Community Center in West Hartford to discuss the importance of protecting Social Security and how the Social Security 2100 Act will enhance benefits for current retirees and future generations.

PLEASE RSVP HERE. If you have any questions please call my office at 860-278-8888.

WHAT: Public Forum on Social Security

WHEN/WHERE: Monday, February 24th 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM

Elmwood Community Center
1106 New Britain Ave
West Hartford, CT 06110

Regards,

John B. Larson
Member of Congress

Bill Pascrell (D-NJ).

When angry constituents call his offices, calling him names, blaming him for being a progressive Democrat, etc., he personally returns their calls to hear them out. He wants to try to represent all residents of our district, not only his supporters.

I always liked the Congress person who replied, "Some nut case is using your name. I want to protect your reputation. Please be careful about identity theft."

who is amazed that we are celebrating a member of the government who LISTENS to constituents? Isn't that why they are elected, to listen and represent ordinary citizens? Dear God, we have fallen even further than I thought.

Texas—what can I say? Mine is Roger Williams, absolutely useless, who meets only with his big donors and refuses to hold any kind of public meeting because someone might ask him what he does. He just votes with the party and tries to get special perks into tax laws for car dealerships, which he owns and spends much of his time there.

Ex-Sheriff John "Barney Fife" Rutherford won't show his face in public here in north Florida! He even cancelled an appearance at the big Rotary Club's meeting a few weeks ago; as friendly an audience as he's likely to find here.

The good news? He is facing some stiff opposition from Donna Deegan, a local TV personality who organizes an annual marathon to raise money and awareness for breast cancer (she's a triple survivor herself). I've sent her money and -- as soon as yard signs become available -- I will publicly show my support.

abut 99% of the time so don't' ever call to complain. HIs staff told me that it's important to call even when you agree becasue it lets them know they have constituent support in the legislature. It's partly a numbers game.

into all their lives is an "entitlement" that we don't deserve to have once we retire? How dare they propose to steal OUR money and/or reduce our right to access it when we need it?

We are entitled to the benefits that we have paid for.

The problem is that it has been conflated with that "Self-entitled" guy that brings 30 items to the express lane, takes up two parking spaces with his MAGA-stickered, coal-rolling, behemoth and cuts you off when exiting the parking lot.

These are not the same "Entitlement".
