Two Out Of Three.....

Our alternatives for November 2020:

1. Vote Blue No Matter Who (smacks of big turnout - and a Dem win) There is more of us than there are them.

2. Sit Out The Election Because My Favorite Isn't In It (assures a win for Trump)

3. Vote for Trump (4 more years - yech!!!!)

Two of the three alternatives we will have assures a win for Trump. I don't think the American People are that stupid to want another 4 years of Trump.

We really have only one alternative in November and that is to "Vote Blue No Matter Who"

Do you really want to sit this one out? Do you really want to vote for Trump over a Dem nominee that may not be your first choice? Are you willing to risk another 4 years of Trump?

he will be a right of center Democrat. Even though he was independent as NY mayor. That is more or less who he is.

But still my last choice among candidates.

12. Wasn't he a Dem then became a GOP to run as Mayor

and once he was mayor he switched to Indepd then when he stopped being the Mayor and became a Dem again to run in 2020? That is what I heard on the news but I could be wrong.

Correction: "Bloomberg was a lifelong Democrat until 2001, when he switched to the Republican Party before running for Mayor. He switched to an independent in 2007, and registered again as a Democrat in October 2018."

I just Googled him and this is from his Wiki page.

People who were Dem then switched...Ivanka and Jared, Jared's dad, tRump himself, and a slew of others. Half of them are supporting tRump now (Michael Cohen switched in early 2017).

My last choice in the primaries because of how he entered. He'll still be better by miles and miles than Trump.

4. Two words - Affective Override

I like your post. It is succinct and in my opinion, correct. I have said often today, that I have clear preferences in the Primary, but regardless of who wins, I will fight extra hard this year to make sure that the Democratic candidate running for President wins in the general election.

As I said in my title however, the problem for a lot of people is Affective Override. That is when emotions overwhelm critical thinking. That is what drives people to want to sit out if their particular candidate does not win. That is what makes people feel that the primary was "rigged" and that both parties are the same.

There are people here that are cursing Bernie Sanders, saying he needs to be ready to leave the country. There are people who hate Michael Bloomberg and Joe Biden. People are operating on high emotion rather than as you said, just letting the Primary play out and supporting the winner of the Primary.

We need to vote for the Democratic nominee no matter who it is.

But there are a couple of people running in the primaries that I will not volunteer to work for even if they are the nominee.

7. We Have To Make Sure We Get To Those People With "Affective Override" And....

make sure we talk them out of sitting out this election in November. That's why I tried to boil it down simply to the 3 alternatives we have as I see them. If they really don't want another 4 years of Trump - there's only one alternative for them - and it's not sitting out the election.

That is why I really liked your post. It is simple. You are right we need to talk to people and talk them down.
