"Ceasefire just started in Afghanistan. Raising a glass to all those who suffered and sacrificed."

Jake Tapper ✔@jaketapper

Soldier friend who has both fought and worked to make peace with the Taliban just texted me: “Ceasefire just started in Afghanistan. Raising a glass to all those who suffered and sacrificed. Re: negotiations, we left it all on the field. Let’s pray this works.”

Taliban and the US government to allow US military forces to withdraw peacefully. The Afghanistan government is not part of the agreement, and I expect the Taliban will begin hammering Afghan forces and civilian targets the day after our last military person leaves.

A couple of things about that.

First, a little message to Murika... I FUCKING TOLD YOU IT WOULD TURN OUT LIKE THIS!!! I was one of the minority in this country who said the war was a loser from day fucking one. And I had historical precedent of the area on my side. And I will never stop saying "I told you so!"

Next, If Obama.. or the next Dem President had made such a "deal", the Repubs would call it treason... losing a war.

And the fine Americans who died in this loser war of choice? They died for nothing. Nothing. Along with hundreds of thousands of innocents.

Let's not forget the $Trillions pissed away on this war, and the devastating effect it has had on our debt and deficit.

Lastly, let's not forget to add this Afghanistan clusterfuck to the long list of clusterfucks our military adventures overseas have given us. We have not "won" a war since 1945.
