an interview with CNNs Anderson Cooper, former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich evoked Nelson Mandela and said he had been a political prisoner and unfairly targeted.
Cooper allowed Blagojevich to make his point before calling bullshit.
In a fiery rebuke, the CNN host rejected Blagojevichs claim that so-called corrupt prosecutors were responsible for his conviction on 18 felony corruption charges for campaign finance violations and bribery.
You do have an obligation to at least admit what you did wrong, and you refuse to do that, Cooper told the former governor, who was granted clemency by President Donald Trump this week.
And youre creating a whole new alternate universe of facts, and that may be big in politics today, but its still frankly just bullshit.
My respect meter for Cooper just went up 10 points - I always saw him as a milk-toast type of interviewer, but the interview (which I saw) was brutal and Cooper didn't let Blagojevich dance himself out of responsibility for his actions.

(22,114 posts)found guilty by a jury of 12 peers too, not some rigged court system as he's claiming. I guess that he thinks by harping he being a political prisoner and unfairly targeted invokes a feeling of compassion perhaps in rump, being that rump is corrupt too. I live in MO (right next to the state of IL) and I can't stand Blagojevich what so ever.
I hope he moves away...

(28,817 posts)The difference between Anderson on 360 and Anderson as a guest on Live is so stark.
I love how he can separate his serious professional life so completely. I admire it.
