(24,259 posts)This isn't isnt the time to vote for my ideals. This is about saving our country from greedy, selfish, bigoted and flat out mean people. Heck, this is even about saving our planet so I want whoever will beat Trump AND keep us the House and win back the Senate.
While I've always been a liberal & a political pragmatist, I'll be 60 in April. I'm also disabled and female. I have 6 young to teen grandchildren that I want to ensure have a future worth living and growing old in long after I'm gone. This means that Trump, TrumpliCons and Cult45ers need to be out of power everywhere and sent back to live under their rocks for a very long time. To do this it will take ALL of us who want them removed to VOTE BLUE NO MATTER WHO.

(22,976 posts)Right now, there should be ONE shared goal: kick that toxic, democracy-killing cabal OUT of the White House.
Everything else hinges on that one goal. EVERYTHING!

(58,785 posts)to limit discrimination against them over this increasingly conservative era, pragmatists should be starting to tailor and scrub their social media profiles for survival under an authoritarian state. At least smart, aware ones.
No one here seems to meet that mark.
I'm still here and still exposing myself as the enemy to acquaintances, and we have no intention of leaving the country if it comes to it, so that I guess tips us over the line into crusader.

A pragmatist starts at the 50 yard line, where mutually realistic goals are hoped to achieve.
If one side is an extremist, like the GOPers, pragmatism fails, because the best you'd get is 50% of your desires, and more likely, they will be negotiated more to the extremist side, which almost always benefits the GOP extremists.
I am pragmatic when it is plausible, and a crusader when it seems fit. It pisses me off when people want to be pragmatic with Republicans, because it's been shown time and time again that they are never pragmatic, especially in the past two decades.
