Auburn student ejected from basketball game vs. Tennessee

My alma mater is Auburn. Hope he gets a season or life ban from attending games.

An Auburn student was escorted from The Jungle and banned from Auburn Arena after making a xenophobic remark during the Tigers’ home game Saturday against Tennessee.

The student, whose identity was not disclosed, was identified and ejected from the arena by Auburn officials after being identified for making a xenophobic comment directed at Tennessee’s Santiago Vescovi during the first half of the game. The student’s remark was picked up by microphones in the stands and could be heard during the CBS broadcast of the game, which Auburn won 73-66 after erasing a 17-point second-half deficit.

“Go back to Uruguay; this is America,” the student could be heard shouting.

Vescovi, a freshman guard for Tennessee, is from Montevideo, Uruguay.

Once aware of the remark, Auburn officials were able to quickly identify the student with the help of other fans in the student section behind the announcer’s table. According to an Auburn official, the student is not welcome back to Auburn Arena and any further discipline will be handled by the office of student affairs.

“I was informed, and I appreciate the way Auburn handled it," Auburn coach Bruce Pearl said. “That’s not who we are at all. This is an amazing campus with incredible students. We are diverse and welcoming. I have nothing but respect for Santiago’s game. That one person does not speak for the whole Auburn family.”

Tennessee coach Rick Barnes, who recruited and signed Vescovi -- a former three-star prospect -- as part of the Vols’ 28th-ranked 2019 recruiting class, was unaware of the incident during the game but was informed of what happened following his team’s loss.

“From what I’ve heard, once they found out about it, they took care of it," Barnes said. "I’m glad they did. I haven’t given any thought to it but our administration told me that Auburn did what needed to be done. And that’s good by me.”

That man has poisoned society. Though I’m guessing it wouldn’t take hold if there weren’t already a great deal of racism bubbling up in the US. He’s just making it ok to voice what they were already thinking.

students out of 29,000 total. Plenty of foreigners around that campus. Also, one of the Auburn players comes from Nigeria. I'm guessing the ejected student comes from a Trumper family. There are millions of them all over the country.
