We CAN afford "Medicare for all" but ...
... but not unless we give up being World Cop.
I'm all for it. But we will have to choose. Nobody can afford both. We already know what Republicans choose. When Republicans say we can't afford it, this is what really is going on. They don't even think of themselves as lying, they just take being World Cop as a given. What about Democrats? Still room for peaceniks in this party?

2. We're already not affording a way worse system, so we could go to single payer, waste less money
and still flush hundreds of billions into the DOD cesspool. I'd rather we had a good national health care plan and cut way back on the military.

3. You always hear
the gotcha question: "How you gonna pay for it?"
![]() Simple answer: "We'll ask the civilized world how they do it and see if that might even work here in the 'richest nation on Earth'." ![]() |

4. This
Put another way, they ask: "How can we afford a cheaper system."

6. It's not either/or at all.
Simply reallocate what is being spend now (or actually less) to MFA instead of HMOs and all the attendant overhead. It would put a lot of insurance company execs, lawyers and bean-counters out of work but that seems a small price to pay.

7. Exactly
We spend more on our military than the next 8-10 nations COMBINED. That is RIDICULOUS, and the reason why we can't have nice things like universal healthcare or help students pay off debt. Gotta 'keep the peace' in the middle east forever with no end, what a use of our money. Screw it, we need to take care of our own country. Let the world figure out their own shit.
