China is a first world country with a fourth world healthcare system. They can build hospitals fast, but don't think about keeping those hospitals open to treat the general population after the fact.

The coastal cities of China like Shanghai are beautiful and first class. Great hotels and great hospitals. You go into the interior of China and those people live in the middle ages. There are 30 million people living in caves in western China, They get their food from wildlife markets selling who knows what and the meat is sitting their rotting with flies and everything else. This is where the virus started and spread. It is also where the SARS virus started 15 years ago.

Wuhan is not caves, it is a pretty modern city. Some of the people there eat strange stuff, but not all. It is the healthcare system on the mainland seems underfunded and a bit behind.

I read an article that said that when customers go into a wet market in China, they want to see what they purchased slaughtered in front of them to be sure they are getting everything they paid for, the article pointed out that causes release of all types of stuff into the air.
