Top expert on viral infections must get Pence's approval before issuing statements: NYT

A top expert on viral infections has been given orders to not make any statements about the coronavirus without being authorized by Vice President Mike Pence.

The New York Times reports that Dr. Anthony Fauci, who serves as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, has “told associates that the White House had instructed him not to say anything else without clearance” about the disease.

According to the Times, the White House has been trying to tighten its messaging on the virus by having all statements about it cleared first through Pence’s office. This comes days after White House officials issued completely contradictory statements about the virus being both “contained” and also likely to spread throughout the country.

However, Pence also appointed one of the major culprits of spreading misinformation to his coronavirus task force on Thursday when he announced that economic adviser Larry Kudlow would be joining the team. Kudlow this week infamously said that the virus had been “contained” just hours after public health professionals told lawmakers that the virus’s spread “might be bad.”

Well I had a bet with myself it would take two weeks ...................it only took 24 hours, then the country has economic adviser selling short ....................and playing doctor....................

6. I called my county and state health depts with a simple question

When will medical facilities have access to testing, such as the nose swab for the flu.

No one I've talked so far has any idea. Not my dr, not my county health dept, not the state health dept (state is supposed to get back to me)

Kudlow has no business being involved in a health matter.

Kudlow is there to water down info to Americans to minimize the damage to the economy - instead of putting the health of Americans first.

Are they really so stupid as to expect America will not find out how sick other countries are getting ... followed by Americans getting ill?

11. Every crisis is an opportunity!

When the market "corrects", not EVERYBODY is a loser. Price fell because investors SOLD and took their profits. The first people out are very happy. Short sellers are even happier.

The HHS Secretary made it clear that big pharma was going to develop the vaccine, and cash in when desperate citizens see the pandemic spread. Distribution and pricing decisions will be made based on profit margins, not herd immunity.

Netflix stock is up as binge watching TV is seen as a safe form of entertainment.

And it is evident that Kudlow and Mnuchin were named by Pence because the WH wants to handle this crisis from an economic perspective and not from a public health perspective.

Also - what scares me about Trump muzzling the public health experts is - what if leaders from all affected countries approach this crisis by muzzling their public health experts?

Trump's handling of this public health crisis will be his undoing. Soon we'll be hearing that even some of his supporters are worried about Covid-19 and have lost faith in Trump.
