I put everything into safe alternatives and I only make 5% a year. I was feeling really stupid about that as the stock market soared.

But this week, I broke even. And I've avoided all the angst.

It's anybody's guess how much downward pressure is still left to run, but if one doesn't take advantage of good companies when they are basically on sale, well.....

Never EVER trade on emotion. Like the old saying goes, when others are panicking, that's the time to consider buying. When others are jubilant, that's the time to consider selling.

Another one (And I'm paraphrasing both)

When there's blood on the floor and everyone is heading for the doors, the smart money turns around and goes back in.
