It is identifying calls that are coming thru. The first was telling me it was a telemarketer. Just now I got a call and it said spam risk. That is so cool. Something happen I didn't hear about?

(11,154 posts)Most of the spam calls, robo calls are the area code of my phone so I do not pick those up because no one is calling me from that state, unless I have the friend or family programmed in the phone. I can pretty much pick up the call if it is an area code of the state I am in now. That helps a lot, but I do like this identifier popping up. Very cool

(56,148 posts)Yesterday I started getting all kinds of spam text messages. I'm used to getting spam phone calls and I know to ignore things that have the same prefix as my phone number because they are spam. Anyway, I called Verizon today to see what was going on with the text messages. Of course I wasn't allowed to talk to a human being, but through the chat line I was most generously given some kind of spam blockage on my account. I don't know what it was all about but it sounded like some kind of marketing scam from them. They did tell me that since I was a customer for so long it would be free. Seems to me if they have some kind of technology that would block this they should just implement it system-wide. Whatever.

(56,148 posts)In another reply I stated the same. My area code is from an old state I lived in. So I pretty much know not to answer any calls from that area code. I can answer the calls that has the new state area code cause the spammers do not know I live in this state. Makes that part kind of easy when doctor offices calls or other businesses call me. Of course we know our people that call, regardless of the area code.

(34,859 posts)Are not affected by that.
I have gotten 10ish calls from # I do not know over the last week. The Ohio primary is on Mar 17, there is a chance it is from a campaign. I just choose call decline & check the voice mail later. I also block that #. If it is important, they will leave a message

(11,154 posts)get my glasses to read. Only people I am close to. I have had a few from only one campaign and I get mad and do a big ole rant about invading my privacy without my permission and knock it off.
I have had a company do it too. Reamed them. I really want text for only friends and family.
But it sounds like that do not call list works well for you. I will check it out.
