What's the first step?

Haven't yet found the answer to the main question I have: If someone has flu or viral symptoms, what exactly should they do? It doesn't seem practical to simply present oneself at a doctor's office or at the ER of a hospital because of the risk of spreading. What's best? Call your doctor? Call the hospital ER? Call 911? Seems like "sitting tight" at home is necessary until some facility is willing to have you come in.

How nice that the moron president thinks this is all a hoax.

1. I'd say call your doctor, especially if you have a regular one.

Based on your symptoms, they can probably tell you if you need to come in or not for further evaluation.

Rest and fluids. Track your temperature. If you don’t seem to be improving in a timely manner or it’s getting worse, go see a doctor. The vast majority of coronavirus cases follow the path of the common cold or flu and don’t require a doctors visit or hospitalization.

said that people who have difficulty breathing or chest pains should be medical attention, but most folks should just stay home and recover.
others have recommended calling the doc, instead of going in to the office, and get specific instructions.

military is setting up quarantine hospitals.

because he takes it as a persoanl failure and attack on him, so he has no leadership ability in these situations.

He is sick in the head.

to find a new one, just in case. I, along with 1,600 of her other patients, are being dropped by her practice unless we agree to join MDVIP, which is a doctor-prescribed service that manages her practice.

In order to join, there is a $2,000 annual fee per patient in order to remain one of the precious 400 that she will keep in her practice. That fee, of course, is out-of-pocket as it's not covered by insurance. Basically, we'd be subsidizing her so that she could drastically reduce her practice size without suffering any loss of income. I'm taking a hard pass on this deal, despite the fact that I was one of her first patients when she took over this practice about 10 years ago.

Apparently this is the new, coming "thing" for doctors. Frankly, I think it sucks.

Thankfully, I am happily retired. Self-quarantine would not be a problem for me. In fact, I think I'd enjoy it!
