(16,952 posts)That I find fascinating and beautiful. Both sets of my grandparents were from southeastern Arkansas. Some of my earliest memories are of being covered from head to toe: bonnet, long-sleeves, pants, gloves, and spending dawn to dusk in fishing boats with my grands. I think all the clothes were to protect from both sun and bugs. Those photos really took me back.

(24,017 posts)and good memories... I love trails and when I worked in Louisiana I wasn't going to not get out in the wild (even though I'm from the North and the swamps made me mighty nervous)
I got myself a pair of white shrimper boots and headed out... the 1st spotted green snake that I saw scared the bejeebus out of me but I loved every minute

(15,426 posts)I see in the pic titled, "Atchafalaya Sunset," that there are birds. I thought at first they were bugs. Once, many years ago, my ex wife number one and I were down in Florida. I think we were driving from Orlando on the Bee Line to Cocoa Beach.
It was night and we heard this pop, pop, pop, pop on the windshield. At first I thought it was rain, but no........it was BUGS!
Ran out of wiper fluid before we got there and the windshield was STILL a mess.

(9,606 posts)My ancestors and family have their roots there. What an interesting state it is, too bad the fact that it's red ruins it.
Shrimp, crabs, jumbalaya, gumbo, vampires, jazz, Mardi Gras, and dancing in the streets, to name just a few things.
Even their fast food served at the mall's food court is po'boys and other good stuff. No McDonald's for them.
Those pictures are fantastic and truly capture the soul of LA. Creepy af, too.
