We should add our own effort to staying safe, and not wait for the Ghoul Corps to tell us "too bad for you." Accordingly, elderberries and Sambucol seem like a promising start to our own research.
Has anyone taken either of these? What do you think?

(26,257 posts)Garlic is a great immune booster. I grow my own, so I take the smaller cloves, bruise them, and swallow them down like a pill. I also use garlic, a lot, in everyday cooking. Garlic and turmeric have both immune boosting and great anti-inflammatory benefits.
Sambucol is my big go-to when I'm going to take a flight. I have definitely noticed a decrease in 'air plane air' sickness, when I use it.
I also have some really nice elderberry jam.

(12,409 posts)You know when you get the first indication of a flu. It is that irritating feeling at the back of your throat or nasal cavity.
At that moment I take a shot of tincture my wife makes out of numerous medicinal s, based on an elderberry syrup, and for the last two decades I have not had the flu or even a cold. Also, never have I gotten a flu shot.

(101,295 posts)"That irritating feeling at the back of your throat or nasal cavity" is not an indication of flu, just a cold. Unless you're a professional treating flu patients, you're not exposed to the flu that often. I haven't had flu for 3 decades, not because I take special precautions, but because it's something you don't catch that often. I get colds, of course, but they vary enormously. Don't imagine you are fighting the flu - it's colds.

Stay home from work - don't worry about your mortgage
Take lots of vitamins - you can eat later
Coughing? Go see a doctor - co-payments aren't a thing
These are priviledged solutions
But don't question them or seek alternative advice
'Cause it's certainly not as expensive as getting sick

Dr.'s In Dubai prescribed those all the time. Never worked. Or, let me re-phrase mild temporary relief from a mild cough...
Several times had to go back to Dr. For 'real' meds.

(2,945 posts)help against the C-virus or any virus. Elderberry is almost my top choice for immune support and I keep some on hand in case I run out of my first choice which is liquid maritime pine bark. It's available only in AU and it's pricey, about $350 for a 500 ml bottle, but I take only 20 drops per day. Also, and this will set off a lot of DUers who are against alt-meds and have posted that using colloidal silver will turn them blue, but colloidal silver has been proven to be the only thing that fights/cures viral infections, including MERSA. CS can be purchased at most health food stores or you can buy a machine and make your own. I've had a machine for almost 20 years and make my own -- for pennies. Don't know if CS will work against the C-virus cuz organized medicine won't try it, so people will have to engage their own personal power and experiment. Or they can maybe die.

I don't know if it worked: the noise was so awful I had to run outside, and then I couldn't go back inside until the smoke cleared, which took hours
Since then I've always put on some clothes before things people tell me to do
