Protect yourself and your community from coronavirus with common sense precautions: wash your hands, stay home when sick and listen to the @CDCgov and local health authorities. Save the masks for health care workers. Lets stay calm, listen to the experts, and follow the science.

(11,767 posts)The problem however, is that the Trump administration is constantly casting doubt on experts or trying to shut them up or shut them out. Trump's greatest damage is what he has inflicted on the institutions that underpin democracy and knowledge.
His whole strategy has been to lie and lie big so that the notion of truth and expertise is knocked down to the level of opinion.
President Obama is right. We should remain calm and listen to the experts. The problem is whether we are hearing from the experts and if they are being allowed to give us accurate information.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
