The Novel Coronavirus is a perfect example of why globalization makes sense
We are one world, no matter what Trump or any authoritarian ruler says. If we had a more coordinated response around the world, I think this illness could be far better controlled. COVID-19 is the perfect example of why we need globalization.
In a similar vein, if we had a strong leader in the US, the world would not be as chaotic as it is. For example, in the last few months, there have been horrible Muslim/Hindu riots in India over several acts of the Indian government. If BHO were still President, he would have called Narendra Modi and told him to cool it. Now, there is nobody to do that. That's why things have spun out of control.
Also, just to show how 'effed up our response to COVID 19 is, this map from Johns Hopkins speaks volumes: https://www.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html#/bda7594740fd40299423467b48e9ecf6. India has a population 4 times the size of the US and that is generally far less healthy. Also, it borders on China, which is one of its largest trading partners. However, it has 39 cases of COVID-19, and we have something like 540 REPORTED cases.
I find the US's response to this illness incompetent and negligent, bordering on insane. I understand that the US is not checking ANYONE when they arrive in the US regardless of where they are coming from. Instead, they are checking, for example, folks flying from Milan to the US in Milan, but not in the US. They are NOT checking flights from Rome or any other airport, and that's just Italy. Is it any wonder why the US's response is doomed to fail?
Many of the leading Asian airports PERMANENTLY have thermal scanners at international arrivals so they can immediately spot folks with high temperatures and pull them aside. That is a logical measure. This is why Japan now has fewer cases than the US. They nipped this in the bud immediately (after bungling the cruise ship in Yokohama).
I am an eternal optimist, but this is one time I am not. Trump: you are an 'effin idiot. You WILL NOT take us down any further. COVID 19, has exposed you for the fool that you (and Putin for selecting you) are.
