(9,426 posts)when we had a REAL man in charge, with an administration full of competent, qualified people surrounding him. Was it really only a few short years ago? Feels like a lifetime, doesn't it? Remember how many countries asked if they could have President Obama once his second term was over? I do not see anyone wanting the orange blimp.

& it certainly fits in this situation..

(70,589 posts)President Obama would spend time with each family and ask about their children who
had been killed, hugged them, cried with them, and spent time with their other kids too.
After 3 or 4 families he would go out into the hall and break down. His hair turned grey
shortly afterwards.
And now we have this uncaring hell beast installed by Russia/Vlad who shows up to
a tornado scene dressed for a golf outing and blows off an eight year old boy who just had
his family killed.

(70,589 posts)Obama really did go grey after Sandy Hook. He kept a picture that one of the victims drew
in his private office in the White House and only spoke of it once ... something like "When I
am feeling sorry for myself or the work seems too much I look at the green dinosaur that was
drawn by ****** (girl's name)." Very very rough quote.

It just hit me: its the ultimate comparison in the flesh as different as black and white. Literally and in that order.

(586 posts)that's what a responsible leader does!!
If you're not responsible, you sit in your office tweeting about how this is so unfair & the media & democrats are against you! And you complain about all of this at a time when you should be meeting with professionals to try & figure a way out of this mess!

(779 posts)About how President Bush handed Obama an economy on meltdown, President Obama took on a disaster and patiently worked us through it and left us a pretty good economy, Trump (of the big mouth) came in bragging about all of the big things he would do and look at us 3 years later, he has destroyed everything, he will be handling the next president an economy in crisis. In the process his kids have gotten rich off the taxpayer, his wife must have more expensive outfits than any ordinary person ever dreamed of.So if the next dem president digs us out of the hole, perhaps by taxing the rich etc, they will scream all the way!
So folks, my question is - will the people be stupid enough to hand that back to another republican after 4 years?
not fooled
(5,801 posts)lied the nation into a catastrophic war and crashed the economy. Surely the 'Murican people would never again let a grossly unqualified puke get within stealing distance of the White House. Yet, a mere 8 years later, red don gets installed.

My entire life has witnessed this country indulging republican fuck wittery.
Time after time after time.
They just keep getting meaner and more blatent while suffering less consequences.

(17,865 posts)Don't assume the Democratic candidate will become the next President.
You are right that it is amazing how these folks are willing to go back. Look at how Carter had a tough election against Ford and the utterly corrupt GOP in 1976 and gave back the White House in 1980. How they flushed eight years of a pretty good economy after the twelve years of wild eyed spending to make the election close enough to steal in 2000.

If you haven't read Michelle's book"Becoming" please do. Also, Obama, an Intimate Portrait by Pete Souza, White House official Photographer.

(19,204 posts)We had a real president, who actually cared about people. All people. Keep looking forward to getting back to a state of normality with a new Democratic administration. That's the best we can do, for now.
