In my opinion, he is just getting started and the chaos and mayhem that ensue from a crises are to his advantage. He won't even need the base as much because a national emergency will take him another step towards achieving total control.

People are expecting, "normal" results based on the past, (like botching this will be his downfall, etc.) and I don't anymore. Why? Because it has been a very long road of "I didn't expect that would happen" and I can't play that game anymore. It seems to be that Trump is nothing but a, "you didn't expect THIS, did you?" He may be actually accomplishing his goals based on that.

Maybe I am just being pessimistic, but I know a confidence man when I see one. One side thinks he is a genius, the other thinks he is incompetent. Look how far that had gotten him and how much damage he has been able to do to an entire country. That's a success, no matter how nefarious or what the facade reveals.

I really hope that I am wrong, but I can't shake this. He will capitalize on this and we may be more vulnerable to his power grab because of the pandemic.
