Here's Why Big Christianity Will Back Trump and Republicans Forever

Here’s Why Big Christianity Will Back Trump and Republicans Forever

The Christian Right believe people in the US and the world are protected by the hand of Trump, acting as a servant of God. They believe that a trust in God and prayer ward off demons. These demons can be anyone or any realism which is against Trump or against Republican values and reasoning, or other so-called deeply held religious beliefs. The demons can also include an unfortunate or untimely disease. To protect Trump, these demons and truths must be denied as lies, fake, or simply a hoax.

God will protect them, they hope, if they act sincere and pray in earnest. That’s why they don’t believe CoronaVirus is going to hurt them. Trump knows this and exploits their religiosity for his own gain. The believers know Trump is despicable. But, they also think God is using Trump and believe Trump will protect them. They believe Jesus’ hand will heal them through Trump.

Donald Trump’s core believers are in a conundrum. If Jesus loves them, why did He send them Trump, a man who embodies every sin imaginable? They support Trump *because* he is so bad. Supporters think Trump must be certainly legitimate, because their God, “a loving and caring God”, would not forsake them and allow a religious imposter as President, while they overlook him being bad to the core. They believe Trump has cleverly cloaked himself in sin to be mesmeric and enable him to get chosen as the savior.

Trump is terrible, they believe, because that’s the way God *wants* it. They believe it takes a terrible man to beat down a terrible threat. The terrible threat to them are nonbelievers and others they are conditioned to believe are bad. The nonbelievers and undesirable people can be anybody they conjure up in their heads as not deserving to be treated as a human. We know these non-humans, to them, are the immigrants and the homeless and non-white and the LGBT community. And, the Democrats.

To Trump’s sycophants, Democrats are the Devil and they believe the Devil must be defeated under any circumstances, or by any means. They believe God sent them Trump, with all his faults, to accomplish that mission. And, they believe that for Trump to fail, it would mean they have personally failed as well. And, that failure would be unbearable to them. To have Trump fail would mean God and Christianity itself has failed, and that would mean everything they deeply believe is wrong.

The Trump believers will do anything to support Trump because in their eyes Trump is an agent of God and must be helped to perfect God’s plan. To fail Trump is to fail their God and all humanity. Anything or anyone that stands in their or Trump’s way, is an enemy. Even the Truth is now the enemy, and they are committed to Trump, and will never believe otherwise. Trump and his ilk know they can control the “truth” through religion. “Truth” is what people believe as fact, not necessarily fact itself.

What is the way forward? The way is to not give up or give in. Don’t be tricked or cajoled into fighting dirty. That’s what they want because it reinforces their belief Democrats are bad. The religious right are masters at deception and deceit. The Right Wing controls vast sums of money, and thus a vast people. They have the means and motivation to carry on toward their belief and ultimate goal that only Armageddon or a total world calamity will shock a non-believing world into their thinking. We can be fierce and strong fighters, but also be righteous, decent, and morally upright.

The power of people to control their own destiny is being whittled away. The ultimate fear of the religious right is a fear that the very people they have hurt and oppressed will rise up and destroy them. They oppress, but convince their followers that they are the oppressed ones. We fight back with a peaceful, but massive assemblage of patriots and citizens who cherish decency and Democracy. We fight back with a stern resolve to not allow any freedom to be taken away under the guise of religion, or the workings of a false Messiah.

Trump is ruling using the time tested Republican tactic of fear. The fanatical religious right and the oligarchs loathe Trump, but will use him until he is no longer a viable tool. Trump uses racism, misogyny, xenophobia, and homophobia for control. So, we fight back against those enemies of Democracy and decency. We elect women and men, regardless of ethnicity or gender or sexuality. We vote and help others to register and vote. We also may have deeply held beliefs, and those beliefs may include a god or higher being. Democrats are inclusive and open to all people. Together, we are the supreme and perfect champions! Together, we will win!

10. They want half the world to die in a fiery nuclear explosion.

And that is truly beyond fucked up. What's even scarier is that Trump is letting them get what they want. That's why he moved the embassy to Israel. And that's why he's appointing conservative judge after conservative judge and steamrolled through the Kavanaugh confirmation.

The even scarier thing is that it might not be the fiery, nuclear apocalypse that destroys half of humanity. Instead, it might be a trip to the fish market.

2. Yes, Trump is a useful idiot to the Christian right.

The real prize from the 2016 election is who gets control of the courts, because those appointments last a lifetime, and Trump will give it to them. Once they have what they want, they'll cast him aside for someone much scarier. It's the cycle of shit.

They back him because they get what they want from a public official. Laws that match their version of christianity, judges to support them, and law enforcement who will back it to the letter. If a Democratic ran as prolife they would get the same support.

Those people are delusional and they're twisted beyond redemption...and your tactics are not going to change their minds...a religious fanatic can never be convinced that they are wrong...they look fondly at hurting anyone who doesn't tow their line!

The upper nuts may have access to the money...but if you're followers aren't available...all that money is useless.

We can still do all of that other stuff you advocate...but we need to be prepared to use other methods, should it become necessary...at least I and others will be...

with voters. We can push these people into the fringe by being the honest and decent party. We can still have battles and win because Republicans and Trump have provided a target rich environment in which to attack them at all fronts. They can’t do anything right, and Trump has been shown to be wrong on everything. We don’t even have to break out our best stuff, well we shouldn’t have to...

12. "Donald Trump's core believers are in a conundrum."

Not at all. Putting a vile person like Trump into the office of President isn't the least bit out of character for God. The Bible is stuffed with stories about men who did much worse things than Trump has ever dreamed of doing, whom God put into positions of great power over others, and showered with His favor and His blessings. There is no "conundrum" here.

14. A slightly different personal perspective on the same theme

It is not illogical that the Right has been able to co opt big religion. I believe that the same personal characteristics that allow someone to follow a god, based solely upon faith, are more likely to allow them to be taken in by powerful mortal personalities. .

Religion is based upon an singular all powerful figure that requires absolute trust and obedience and demands constant praise and attention. It is a deadly sin to question the actions of their god. For whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. Some of the more successful mega churches promise not only immortality, but great wealth if you believe and obey. If a religious believer falls victim to some unfortunate situation, it is not because God failed to protect them, but because they somehow failed to live up to God's expectation of them. God moves in mysterious ways, not to be understood by mortal men, but to be accepted without question. "It was God's will, and he is in a better place."

When the political "good book" (the modern right wing press) gave us Trump, he was to be accepted based not on his past performance, not upon his character or judgement, not upon his moral failings or lack of political experience but upon faith that he would "Make America Great Again." It was an offer that the people who thought that the left had damaged and diminished the American vision of truth and justice just could not refuse. Anyone who questions Trump's actions is a heretic, to be scorned and shamed and exiled. They are sheep and idiots unable to see The Truth and destined for failure and ignominy. I mean, for God in Heaven's sake they put a black man in the White House.

If the economy or the health of the nation fails, it will not be Trump's fault, but the fault of those who did not sufficiently believe in him, those who questioned his judgement, those who failed to carry out his vision and those who stabbed him in the back. The fault of those who persecuted him. For Trump's believers, it is a simple proposition of "Trump said it, I believe it, and that is the end of it."

It is a dangerous time.

15. You have continued on exactly what my OP is conveying

I know these people, they are in my family. The “Laying of Hands” on Trump signals to them Trump is to be trusted and followed, under the guise of religious teachings.

Folks should understand Trump is using his new found fame as Chosen One to do the bidding of the bad actors, using religion as the multipurpose tool.

I was raised in Christianity, and it certainly has a function for people to have a belief in something good and be a powerful force in their lives for goodness. I have seen lost souls come back from finding God. But, like everything in this world, religion has been co-opted by evil and is being used accordingly.

Agree, it is a dangerous time.

17. After I got done reading the Original OP I had the thought that in a book, movie or tv show

that's the point where the title character in the story wakes up and shouts "What a nightmare!" And that's the reality of all this.

I had a religious upbringing and learned to accept what good from it that I could. I don't accept that
the faux christians that support tRUMP are in the majority even among Christians. Otherwise tRUMP's
level of support, which has hovered around 40% throughout this mess, would be higher. In the end we
can't call on any god for help, this is something we have to take care of ourselves.

church on Sundays growing up. I think there is a faction who accept Trump as is because he’s giving them the judges they want. And they justify it in their hearts by using religion. Then, all the other factions jumped in and are using a Trump as a tool for tax cuts, international policy, etc. It probably surprised Trump when they picked him since he knows he is a slug. Thus, when he says he’s the Chosen One, he kinda smirks like, Ok if you want, I’ll be that for you.

18. Call it what it is

Every time I hear a republican say, “Lets be open minded about this…” I know I’m going to be asked to unbuckle my belt, slide my pants down, turn around, bend over, and spread my cheeks.
This is their usual opening statement regarding climate science.
Every time I hear a republican talk about ‘religious freedom’, I know that their either talking about abortion or gay rights. They don’t want any of either because Falwell tells them so.
There are any number of ‘buzz words’ or phrases republicans use, wrapping their Nazi poison in liberal, reasonable language.
To strong to call them Nazis? Maybe we should call them Alt-right? Only if you want to apply political correctness to a cultural force spearheaded by the Cult of Trump. The actions of the republicans in the house and senate, the ‘flood of bullshit’ (in Bannon’s own words) delivered daily by their propaganda machine, and now the beginning of a private secret police (project veritas) have proved one thing.
Beneath the thin tissue of their supposedly noble political and philosophical arguments lies a hungry beast, one who may yet succeed in consuming America, heart and soul.
If they win it won’t be by their own efforts alone. Daily I see Democrats committing a sin of omission that almost guaranties their victory.
They are better at telling lies than we are at telling the truth.
This is How Fascism Works.

19. Do they think Jesus was just kidding when he said the people who accused him of being backed

By the devil were wrong...he did good and good can't come from bad. So, if someone has made a lifetime career of being a scammer, a sexual preditor, a lawbreaker, etc., Jesus would deny that such a package of evil was sent by the will of God. Good only comes from the good, evil from Evil.

Actually, if Christians understood the Prodigal Son, they would know that their God the Father stays put in its world. No matter that his son was starving, living with swine, the father never helped or sent help.

22. I watched as the RayGun era "Moral Majority" became neither.

And became the radical caliphate they only exist as "join us as we pray for hateful crap" chorus on pathetic, loser life support now as they stack their confabulatory house of cards higher and higher.
I know many who guided by their faith, remain focused on doing good and non-judgemental works. Many Christians do have a realistic picture that their hero Jesus was a middle eastern man with great lessons of equanimity to spread, some who got fooled by the false prophecy picture this round, but only at first. Soon as children were dying in Trump's concentration camps-- they're done with that crap and have voiced their intention going on 3 years ago now to vote this menacing caliphate out.
Fear, plenty of that to go all the way around. Fear of anti-science climate catastrophe. Fear the homophobes could enact horrific policies that trash my job, my home, my rights and my integrity.
Then there's fear of the "socialist" boogeyman, even when they drove to work on socialist highways, stopped at socialist stoplights, safely thanks to socialist policing, and care all day for patients covered by socialist Medicare.
Then there's my neighbor, oh my. Clutching her cross necklace while fearing the fires of hell if she doesn't pray enough. Functionally illiterate, and it took a tremendous amount of explaining to her what "I like your Christ, I don't like your Christians, they are so unlike your Christ" referred to. After she recoiled initially in horror at first when I reiterated that quote to her, I finally activated enough dormant neurons in her cranium to catch it's jest, but only after tremendous effort on my part that made me wish I hadn't attempted better enlightenment of such a childish mindset. So there's a funny Catch-22 about this: She won't vote because she thinks her role of subservient housefrau doesn't deserve that privilege! But, another round of getting her to engage the neurons that we live in Socialist America, and if you don't want to lose your and your husband's Social Security income... ahem...
It's best I leave the ignorance be. Irene.

He tried to push his version of life onto everyone. His version with the phony excesses and greed. The problem is he couldn’t bribe everyone, so he is doomed to fail. He is the master of dirt and his crew is poised to crank up his operation with Brad Parscale soon.

We can go where Democrats haven’t gone before with the fight, just as long as our message doesn’t stray into crazy or indecent territory. Then, voters will be told both sides are the same. We have to maintain the contrast, and all we have left is character and decency and competency. Now, we have the piss poor response to Covid 19, too, that we can tactfully exploit, but we must do that by just being better at helping people.

They won’t play nice, nope. Hopefully we can trick them into being so disgusting, they will turn everyone left off. Or just enough to win. 😬

38. You are wrong.

Trump's Religious Right followers don't fret over anything Trump says or does. They just ignore it. They love him because he promises them that he will do their bidding---appoint right-wing judges, kiss Netanyahu's ass, promote "religious liberty laws", etc. They see him as the one who will give them the theocracy they crave. Of course every single one of them is a hypocritical, self-righteous POS in my opinion. Trump is just using them as useful idiots. The one thing I will give Trump credit for is exposing the Religious Right for the power-hungry lunatics that they are.
