3. Why? Are Italians breaking all the commandments?

Stealing from the coffers?
Marrying two people at one time?

Those crazy Italians just have no morals.

18. It just struck me as funny today for some reason.

Guess I'm giddy over the Michigan election. Hope the polls are correct.

4. Says a doctor who is an expert in ... nutrition

While the figure may be mathematically correct, the numbers (specifically the denominator) used to derive it is an unknown. Sorry, "doctor," but "known cases" is not the same as "cases." Breathlessly tweeting alarmist figures is irresponsible.

6. I saw the figures elsewhere, he has been legit since the

the beginning with his information. I really don't care what kind of Dr. he is.

8. Well, I do care. Questions about epidemics are best answered by experts in epidemics.

His figures may be what he was told, but he obviously doesn't understand what they mean and how they relate to new epidemics.

5. I assume you mean "mortality"...?

I'm not sure their morals are the problem, although intimate contact would probably spread the virus.

12. Reported mortality rates vary from country to country.

I read an abstract by Chinese docs last night that concluded different strains are undergoing active recombination. They share genetic info and mutate to ensure survival. That can mean the virus will get milder or it will get more lethal. There may be a different strain in Italy than the one in China.

16. Also, it's still early in the epidemic cycle. Numbers may take a while to settle down...

and be more exact. Statistically, we're still working with some small sample sizes.

17. Why is Italy getting hit so much harder than other nations?

Is there an environmental reason, a systemic reason or could it just be that they are unlucky enough to be hit with a more virulent strain of the virus? Just wondering if anyone has read anything on this or has any insight as a professional.

20. The cases overwhelmed their medical system.

Elderly population is hit hard and they are not getting adequate treatment.
