The polls in the Michigan LP closed an hour before those in the UP. MSNBC made it clear several times that they were only reporting numbers that were being released by the State.

In no way "gives life to the claim".

When the statistical mechanisms meet the criteria for announcing, what's not to announce? Besides that all the outlets are announcing at around the same time. Something is wrong in the premise.
